Who we are

We are one of four Local Records Centres (LRCs) in Wales. Together we collect, collate, disseminate and manage biodiversity information for the whole of Wales. Click on the map of Wales to go to the regional LRC websites or find your local record centre at www.lrcwales.org.uk

We are a not-for profit company, our region includes the Vice Counties of Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, excluding the Brecon Beacons National Park, an area of some 5650km2.

The company currently holds over half a million records of species in addition to habitat, designated site and other biological data. The information originates from voluntary biological recorders, public bodies, conservation organisations, national and local schemes and societies. The information is held and maintained in a database which is constantly growing.

What we do

The purpose of the LRC is to procure and maintain information of known quality, and to disseminate it in a form that decision makers, conservation managers and the general public can use to preserve and enhance biodiversity in the region. Biodiversity data searches can be requested by following the Data Enquiries section of the website.
