Reptiles are cold blooded vertebrates and are covered with scales or horny plates.

Britain has 6 native species of reptile.

Lizards

  • Slow Worm (Anguis fragilis)
  • Common Lizard (Zootoca vivipara)
  • Sand Lizard (Lacerta agilis)

Snakes

  • Grass Snake (Natrix natrix)
  • Smooth Snake (Coronella austriaca)
  • Adder (Vipera berus)

Tom McOwat is county recorder for Ceredigion and reptile records for this county should be sent to him.

Carmarthenshire currently doesn't have a county recorder for reptiles, any sightings should be sent to the WWBIC office using the contact form.
