Biodiversity Information & Communications Officer
Salary: £21,269 – 22,571
5 days per week.
Location: Whitland, West Wales
We are looking for a person with good communication and data entry skills who will engage with groups and promote biological recording. Knowledge of scientific nomenclature or taxonomy is required for the role.
The successful candidate will be part of a small team working to exchange biological information and to promote biological recording within the region and across Wales. They will have high regard for the accuracy and integrity of data throughout our systems and processes. They will have an element of self-reliance, be highly motivated and will thrive on the challenges and opportunities offered through working for our organisation. WWBIC has a hybrid working policy and will consider reducing the number of days worked per week subject to mutual agreement.
The post holder will be required to manage their own schedule of outreach activities under the supervision of the Centre Manger and to deliver presentations, interact with small groups of volunteers, and attend meetings with other organisations. Another key part of the role will be to mobilise biological records for incorporation into the species database of West Wales Biodiversity Information Centre and they must be diligent in keeping records and logs of work. Whilst the role is primarily desk based, it will entail occasional work outdoors and travel to locations throughout West Wales.
